Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics
We are extremely proud that the Bearingstar Insurance Charitable Fund is a Platinum level sponsor of the 2014 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. We are honored and excited to have several employees run different legs of the 3 day event which began on Wednesday and ends today. Among those running were Tony Cervone from our Fairfield office, Cheryl O’Shea from our Torrington office, Antonio Marchetti from our Rocky Hill office, Rich Toce, our Customer Service Manager, and Chris Main from our Rocky Hill office along with his son Kevin. It was an honor to be able to participate in this fundraiser for Special Olympics.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics’ single largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. Connecticut had its first Torch Run in 1986 with a few legs converging onto the campus of the University of Connecticut at Storrs. The run then became a statewide event involving several more cities and towns. Over 1,500 Law Enforcement officers, sponsors and Special Olympics Athletes participate in the Torch Run. These officers represent local, state, and federal departments, agencies and correctional facilities.
Bearingstar founded the Bearingstar Insurance Charitable Fund (BICF), a division of the Arbella Insurance Charitable Foundation, in 2012. The mission of the BICF is to engage in activities and to support not-for-profit organizations that have a significant positive impact on the people and communities Bearingstar serves.
