Courtney Knowlton International Women’s Day Spotlight

We’re pleased to spotlight one of our employees, Service Team Manager Courtney Knowlton! 

Courtney has been with us since September 2020 after nine years with our parent company, Arbella Insurance. 

One of Courtney’s favorite parts of working at Bearingstar is “the family feel of a small agency yet still having the perks of a larger company” and says, “There are strong examples of female leadership here, and my voice is encouraged to be heard.” 

In the beginning of 2021, Courtney was named President of the Boston Chapter of the CPCU Society — a designation that only 4% of the insurance industry holds. Her leadership inside and outside the office is an inspiration to young women, to whom Courtney has this advice, “find out what you can do early on that separates you from the pack. Look to those that are high performers and sought after for their expertise and reach out to them for their mentorship.”

Through her work with Arbella’s Charitable Foundation, Courtney became familiar with Interfaith Social Services, a South Shore-based organization dedicated to improving the lives of families and individuals in need through programs focused on hunger, mental health, and emergency assistance. This mission of the Charitable Fund drew the support of Courtney and her husband. They continue to donate their time and resources whenever they can. 

Outside the office, Courtney enjoys spending time with her husband, Tyler, and their two Golden Retrievers, hiking and playing board games. They really look forward to being able to go to concerts and travel again. This May, Courtney will be earning her Master’s degree, an achievement she had put off when her father passed away but is excited to complete in the coming months.  She knows her dad would be proud.
